Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend has named her preferred candidate to be the next Chief Constable of Surrey.
On the appointment, Lisa said,
"I am delighted to announce that following a thorough selection process which concluded yesterday, I have confirmed Tim De Meyer as my preferred candidate for the role of Surrey Police’s new Chief Constable. Tim is currently the Assistant Chief Constable for Local Policing with Thames Valley Police and his appointment will now be subject to a confirmation hearing by Surrey’s Police and Crime Panel.
Tim began his police career with the Metropolitan Police Service in 1997 and joined Thames Valley Police in 2008 where he has served at a number of senior ranks before being promoted to Assistant Chief Constable in 2017. If his appointment is confirmed, Tim will replace the outgoing Chief Constable Gavin Stephens who is set to depart the Force in April this year after successfully being elected as the next head of the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC).
Having seen the passion, experience and professionalism Tim demonstrated in the selection process, I have every confidence he will be an outstanding leader who I believe will guide Surrey Police into an exciting future ahead."
The Police and Crime Panel will meet to review my proposed appointment on Tuesday 17 January at County Hall in Woodhatch.
